Earlier today I was browsing snowboard boots on REI’s big winter sports gear sale. I’ve been riding the same boots for eight years, and every season for the past few years I would decide *this* would be the year to get new boots. I’ve never been able to convince myself to pony up the money.
So today I was looking at some sweet boots from Salomon, my bootmaker of choice. They have weird sizing, so I thought I’d pull out my boots to see what size they are.
And that’s when I noticed that they’re two different sizes. Right foot, size 8; left foot, size 7.
This explains a lot about the toe pain I’ve been having in my left foot. I always assumed it was a result of cinching my bindings too tight. Turns out, no.
With this new motivation I took advantage of the summer sales and finally ordered new snowboard boots - Salomon F22s, if anyone cares. I’m stoked to get them, but sad that I’ll have to wait so long to try them out.
RIP, Salomon Rubys:
